The American Academy of Pediatrics has recognized that prevention of obesity begins in childhood.  AAP recommends early identification of excessive weight gain by using body mass index, dietary and physical activity interventions during health supervision encounters, and advocacy and research.  Links to multiple resources for providers are available on the AAP web site [http://www.aap.org/obesity/links.html]

Exercise and Nutrition
The CDC recommends that adults follow nutritional guidelines and exercise regularly to prevent obesity.  Tools and information are available on the CDC web site.  The Division of  Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity [http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpao/index.html] has information for consumers on weight management strategies.

Healthy Weight and Weight Loss
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has information, tools for tracking nutrition and exercise, kid-friendly information, and fact sheets on eating healthy and weight loss.
